The Amazing Can Marca Caves
If you have planned your holiday in Ibiza this year, you must spend some time getting to know the magical places on the island, and one of those places is known as the Caves of Can Marca.
Located in the Port of San Miguel, these amazing caves are a big attraction amongst tourists that come here every year to marvel at the wonders of nature. When exploring the Caves of Can Marca, you will get to see beautiful waterfalls surrounded by ancient geological structures and water channels situated on multiple levels. And that’s not all! Right in the middle of it, you can enjoy a superb music and light show that goes on all year round.
Being more than 100.000 years old, these caves were actually discovered by smugglers, who used to hide their loot here. They even marked the walls with a specific getaway plan in case the cave was blocked and they couldn’t get out on the main entrance. Fossils of extinct rodents have also been found here, and are being kept in museums as a mark of the island’s ancient fauna. The 30 feet waterfall is by far the jewel of these formations, and the magnificent views you can admire at the exit of the cave are worth your while.
We reccommend you to take a tour of the Can Marca Caves if you are in Ibiza, it’s as cultural-enriching as it is relaxing, and you might find out a thing or two you didn’t know about our wonderful island.
